Good Things #7

It’s the first Good Things installment of 2014! Huzzah!

GOOD SCRIPTURE

They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces were not ashamed.
This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them.

Psalm 34:5-7

GOOD PICTURE

Sometimes our best-looking moments are those when we aren’t aware that anyone is looking at us. Sometimes. This Samburu warrior in Kenya has captured one of those times.

GOOD MUSIC

Jaye Thomas is awesome. Any fan of IHOP worship will tell you that. This single, although a year old, is like a zap of encouragement for your soul. When I first heard this, I found myself dancing around the room (genuine dancing, with spins and raised arms) before I knew it! I listen to a lot of Christian/Gospel songs, but I’ve never heard a song like this before. It’s not cliché, it’s straight from scripture, and I love it. Click the picture, and check out the single!

GOOD VIDEOS

The Oakwood Aeolians utilize a classical singing style (almost like an old recording of the Fisk Jubilee singers), coupled with modern jazz stylings, and powerhouse lead vocals. You either love them or you don’t. They’re too unique to play the middle. However, I can guarantee you, that by the end of this video, you’ll be blessed by their ministry. Sit back, and enjoy “It Pays to Serve Jesus” led by Paul Heflin. I’m not ashamed to say that I cried in joyous affirmation while watching.

If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for two things: black and white movies, and powerful sermons. This video has combined my favorite things, so you know I love it. It’s a classic Oral Roberts tent crusade from 1959. The setting is vintage, but the message he preaches is still fresh and necessary. Keep an eye out for miracles towards the end! [And, don’t be so full of skepticism that you can’t enjoy the revealed hand of the Almighty God in our midst. He’s alive, and He hasn’t retired – His Spirit yet heals the sick!]

GOOD FOLLOW

If you’re in an on-again-off-again relationship with Twitter (as I am) then R.L. Ripples is the gal to follow! It’s an account dedicated to vintage newspaper clippings, and isn’t nearly as boring as it sounds. Twitter is the perfect vehicle for these brief “scintillations” as newspapers would title their gossipy one-liners. I’m an old soul, though, what do I know? I loved this story, and you might not:

America White is the name of a colored woman in Kentucky, and Africa Black is the name of a white woman in Ohio. TX1878

Everything about this account is genius, and hilarious – to me, at least. Check it out for a good laugh, or at least a low chuckle.

GOOD MINISTRY

If you didn’t already know, I’m a HUGE Reinhard Bonnke/Daniel Kolenda/CFAN…fan. I read their books, I travel to hear them speak, I’ve taken pictures with them – I genuinely love them (in a family-in-Christ way)! One-Soul is part of the CFAN ministry, and it helps to disciple those who come to know Jesus through CFAN crusades. One-Soul also partners with local churches so that everyone who accepts Christ gets placed at a good local assembly. I strongly support this ministry, and I recommend it without reservation. No amount is too small, or too large, to give. Click the picture to find out more, and read testimonies!
