Fasting – Day Eight

Well here we are, one-third of the way into the fast!  It’s exciting, eh?  As I settle into my “new normal,” I can say that today was fairly easy.

I didn’t have any extraordinary cravings.  While looking up some recipes for a church dinner we’re having in a few weeks, I did get distracted by some pictures of desserts…but I recovered quickly and decided to look for recipes some other day.  Instead of television, I watched some online worship services from Bethel (a-ma-zing) and discovered Cory Asbury!  Earlier I was feeling so lethargic/sleepy but after some pure worship I found myself extra energized!  Technology is a wonderful thing, and I’m grateful to live in a time where I can receive from great ministry like William Matthews, Cory Asbury, and Jaye Thomas.

My house is getting to be so quiet now, and that’s one thing that’s hard to get used to.  Usually there are at least two televisions on 90 percent of the time.  I fall asleep to the sounds of my mother watching Jay Leno in her bedroom and my father watching 24 in the family room (right under my bedroom).  Nobody would go to sleep until 2 or 3:00 am.  Now just about everyone [except me] is asleep by 11:30!  It’s a good change, but disorienting at the same time.

I didn’t eat any meat until 9:30, and then I had some Chinese food – nothing heavy.  I’m thankful that things are settling down and my body has become accustomed to the new diet.  Life is good, God is GREAT, and I am growing!

Until tomorrow:)

Today’s Scripture:

Let the saints be joyful in glory;

Let them sing aloud on their beds.

Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,

And a two-edged sword in their hand…

–Psalm 149:5-6 (NKJV)
