I’m a day late, but not a post short!  Sunday always feels like a quick 48 hours…like I’ve done two days work in one day’s time.  Yesterday was no different.

 There is something to be said for the energy benefits of sugar/caffeine.  Growing up I might have been was hyperactive, so now I channel all that extra energy into leading praise and worship.  My verve and vim were greatly diminished yesterday though.  I started dancing and my legs were so weak that I had to sit down at one point.  I was hoping nobody would see me wobble to the floor and think it was the weight of the Spirit pressing me down, but my sister said that’s how things appeared (oh well).

So I ended up…I’m so ashamed…I ended up getting some Starbucks.  Yup.  I didn’t go venti though, I got a grande and drank it slowly.  It was amazing, I’m not going to lie.  It was like I tasted Starbucks for the first time!  I’m more ashamed because of the high standards I’ve been writing about on here, because I honestly didn’t feel a deep spiritual guilt for my indulgence.  Maybe it will come later, but like I said before, a fast is more heart than diet.  I’m not going to start drinking it during my fast now, but I might revert to my earlier decision of only having it on Sundays.

Last thing.  Do NOT eat anything spicy while fasting.  I had some Buffalo Shrimp from Ruby Tuesday’s and barely survived to tell the tale.  Possibly the worst idea ever: hot sauce on an empty stomach.  I felt like Mt. Vesuvius all day – I came home, laid down, and tried to keep from vomiting.  Not the Sunday nap to which I’m accustomed.  However, I was able to get up later and do some grocery shopping with my family.  We bought a lot of veggies and organic juices and tried to get creative within the fast.

Hopefully I don’t seem hypocritical for the whole Starbucks thing.  Honestly, it’s just one of those things that I’m feeling out as I go along.
